Google Introduced a New Crawler to Optimize Google Search Index
Google introduced a new crawler to optimize Google search index. It is also called as GoogleOther. It is designed in a way that alleviates the strain on Googlebot. The primary purpose of GoogleOther is to optimize the search engine and streamline crawling operations.
Google’s Introduced a New Crawler GoogleOther
GoogleOther and Googlebot crawlers will handle different tasks. The primary purpose of GoogleOther is to take over the non-essential works so Googlebot can focus on the search index.
GoogleOther will handle many different tasks such as research and development crawls.
Google analyst Illyes mentioned on LinkedIn that they added a new crawler, GoogleOther is added to the list of crawlers that will help mitigate the Googlebot.
While optimizing, they focus on only one thing Googlebot how and what crawls, and Googlebot will handle tasks that are related to the search index for search engine, and other tasks will be handled by GoogleOther.
GoogleOther Infrastructure
GoogleOther has the same infrastructure as Googlebot, what I want to say is it has the same limitation and features (such as host load limitation, robots.txt, and HTTP protocol version) as Googlebot crawlers.
Effects on Websites
According to SEJ, it will not affect any other websites because it uses the same infrastructures and limitations as Googlebot. Google introduced this new update to optimize the search engine and streamline its index crawling process.
